Oksana Kotel, partner in Goretsky & Partners, acted as a moderator for the discussion panel on the recovery of debts from foreign counterparts held in course of the thematic event “LEGALWEEK. Foreign economic activity – 2020”.
The event was jointly organised by the educational centre “Professional interest” and the journal “Lawyer”. It gathered lawyers and advocates from Lithuania, Poland, Belarus, Ukraine and Russia.
Participants of the event discussed practical issues of recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards and court decisions in Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine and Russia, as well as its procedural peculiarities in each country. The discussion was held in the light of protection of the interests of Belarusian entities which have to recover debts from counterparts based in aforementioned jurisdictions. The experts provided recommendations regarding debt recovery preparation, evaluation of the efficiency of potential recovery proceedings abroad, as well as specifics of enforcement proceedings.
